Almost finished!!

LA18s amazing year is almost at a close. Congatulations to all our Year 7s. Almost every Year 7 from L A18 graduates with honours. We wish yopu every success in the years to follow.

Year 6 students will begin their Year 7 journey very soon. We wish them every success for next year.

Thursday is our combined BBQ day with all staff and students from Torrens.

On Friday we will have one final assembly and then you may all enjoy a well earned holiday break.

What’s Left to do in weeks 8 & 9

LA 18 students will complete a program of revision for Spelling, Maths, Science and English Texts.

All students will complile a ‘Best Of 2011″ portfoilo – so printing money will be necessary – please  top up printing funds this week please. Thanks.

Year 7′s will be busy with Graduation in week 8 and in week 9, they will be involved in ‘Giving Back’ activities.

Torrens Class BBQ

Hi All,

Torrens Students will celebrate the year with a combined BBQ Thursday 15th Dec btween 12 noon and 1pm. Everything will be supplied on the day.

REMINDER: OPEN DAY this FRIDAY morning Nov 25th

Assignment Information

This week two assignments are due.

1. BIOLOGY: Factors that affect the growth of seedlings

2. WRITTEN LANGAUGE: One polished piece of writing 150-250 words

The Endangerd Species Report is due Friday Week 8.

Individual Review booklets will be handed out next week for Maths, Spelling ,Reading and Art.

 

 

 

Graduation Information

Graduation planning is in progress. Thank you to the Graduation committee who are meeting on a weekly basis to ensure that food and decoration details are organised.

To help make the evening an enjoyable and successful event graduates are asked to attend to the following responsiblites and meet the timelines given.

GRADUATION INVITATION                                                                                                                                                           

The invitation needs to be given to your parents.  The attached consent and R.S.V.P. note needs to be returned by TUESDAY 29th NOVEMBER.  Seating will be allocated once the  R.S.V.P. indicating numbers attending has been returned.

PRESENTATION MUSIC

You will  need to choose a song  that you would like to be presented with on the evening. The song choice needs to be appropriate  for the audience it is intended for.  The song is to be saved in your name in the Graduation folder set up on the student drive. This needs to be organised by FRIDAY 25TH NOVEMBER.

GRADUATION AVATAR

You will need to create your own avatar on the FACE YOUR MANGA site.  Ask your parents to register on your behalf. Once you have created  your own avatar, save it on your USB so that it can be saved into the Graduation Avatar folder in the student drive at school. This is to be organised by THURSDAY 1ST DECEMBER.

Assembly monitors

If you would like to operate the sound system, or be the tech team
for assemblies in 2012, please read on.

If you want to operate the sound system you’ll need a partner.
Some of the things you will learn are, setting up the sound system, checking
microphones and playing music cds. You also have to be at school at 8:30 to set
up.

If you want to be in the tech team, you need to be cool under
pressure. You will have to work with Mrs. Thurston to make sure the assembly
programme is organised and all the powerpoints are ready for showing. The Tech
team play Power points, photo’s, videos and some music. You need to be a
confident laptop user. (You will learn on the job)You also have to be at school
at 8:30 to set up the projector and Laptop, and you also need a partner.

So if you want to be in the tech team or operate the sound system,
and would like to have a trial run this year, please leave a comment with your
blog name, L A and which job you would like to try out for. (You will need to
be a Year 7 next year)

CALLING FOR 2011 GRADUATION COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: To help plan the Graduation Ceremony (in a group of 8 )
MEETINGS will be held  during lunch time.
APPLICATION via an expression of interest  to class GRADUATION blog post by Friday 28th October
SUCCESS CRITERIA
100-200 word statement
Reference to organisational , interpersonal, and time management skills.
Successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday 2nd November.

Growing Seedlings

This week Torrens science students will review the state of their seedling experiments to isolate what they believe are the critical fcators that affect germination. This could lead to reframing the experiment so that a more vaild control test is set – such as add water, add soil, add light.
